AABB News Focuses on Various Aspects of Apheresis in April

The April issue of AABB News covers different aspects of apheresis. One feature article examines the research supporting therapeutic apheresis and where more findings are needed to support current practices. Another feature describes therapies that could supplement, and possibly one day replace, therapeutic plasma exchange. A third helps demystify the intricacies of histocompatibility and human leukocyte antigen (HLA).

One column discusses the newly expanded — into three volumes — resource, Apheresis: Principles and Practice. Another describes how one National Blood Foundation grantee is striving to improve pediatric patient blood management using automated processes, like clinical decision support. Another explores some lesser-known volunteer opportunities for AABB members —specifically, subsection membership.
